Mike was a tenor with Acappellago from 2002 to 2021 minus a few seasons when Mike’s work took him to various locales across the country including South Dakota, Florida, Missouri and Texas.
Members and family of Acappellago joined together on Saturday, June 12, to celebrate Mike’s life. See the gallery below for pictures.
We gathered together – for many of us, the first time in over a year and a half – to celebrate Mike’s life, accompanied by his favorite music, food and friends, including many Acappellago members, Mike’s family, Dennis and Patricia Smith, Kristina and Orlando Lopez, adopted sister Holly Kapitan and other friends. Dennis Smith, Mike’s brother, and founder of Acappellago led us in the performance of The Lord Bless You and Keep You.
Larry Collins, current President of Acappellago, followed the performance with some kind words about how Mike will always be part of Acappellago and will always be standing next to us singing along even though we can’t see him.
We acknowledged the kind contribution and assistance of Mike’s landlord, Tom Mordini, by awarding him and his wife Kathy, Acappellago shirts and naming them honorary Acappellago members.
The evening ended with a champagne toast to Mike by Dennis.
